Challenges...

You know, ever since I started making
jewelry, I never pushed myself very much..
I really thought that the fact I had been
100% self taught was a great challenge
by itself....

I began with simple wrapping...
then tried some more intricate wire wrapping..
and then I was fascinated with metals and fire..

But I never really challenged myself..
I never had the patience or the confidence I
could make something outside my safety zone.
I never really tried my limits.
.
Don't get me wrong here.
I m really proud of what I have accomplished
so far..
But truth be told..I was afraid of failure.
I hate failing..in anything for that matter.
I have always been someone who
would only try at anything with
a really low percentage of failure.

It seems I had forgotten that the most
important thing, is trying...
That, the best part is the journey..
And not the destination

With this pendant, I pushed myself.
It's been on my mind the last few months
but didn't have the guts to try it.
This time I did.
And I made it.
And I enjoyed every minute of this journey.
..the destination was lovely as well ;)

Sunbeams...

On winter days I pray for sunbeams to make
their way through my window...
their journey is long through secret paths,
dark clouds and trees..and once they appear,
they fill my heart with joy..
like a sweet smile on a sad day,
like a warm hug from someone I love..

How Colour Influences My Work

A couple of my dearest artists (check out their blog)
are having
a talk regarding how colour influences
their work..

So I started thinking..How does colour
influence my work?
How does colour influence my mood?

Well...the answer is : A LOT!

The colour of the stones laying
on my work bench really influences
the final design...Looking at the
colour of the stone I start thinking
which shape, which metal would
make the stone's colour pop!
It sort of "decides" for me what
I 'm going to use..will lt be silver?
Or Brass?Or maybe Copper?

I also tend to choose stones
basing on their colour..I mean, I really
have to like the colour of the stone..
At times, it needs to be vivid, and other
times I prefer stones with a more
subtle,pale tone..

Colour influences my mood too..
My room needs to be painted
with colours I love..like blue, or grey,
or purple, or fuchsia..

Of course colour is not the only thing that
influences my work..nature gives
me a whole bunch of ideas..
even buildings.. ;)
